Periodically, and in fact more often than I care to admit, I laugh to myself for no obvious reason. Usually it’s me adding some mental commentary to whatever is going on, or just thinking of something completely unrelated to the current circumstances.
The reason is irrelevant, though. My point is that this happens, and that it brings me little slices of happiness throughout my day. My further point is that I don’t seem to ever notice other people doing the same thing. And I find that terribly tragic.
Life is funny.

It seemed innocent enough. A friend of mine, through an Instant Messanger conversation, sent me an equally seemingly innocent link, which I followed, and found myself at http://gunarmlincoln.ytmnd.com/
I won’t deny that this site is the epitome of mindless Internet humor, probably concocted by some 13-year-old uber-geek. Likewise, I won’t deny that, without fail, this little mini-site makes me smile, every single time I visit.
Frankly, none of the individual parts of this site are all that funny on their own. The photoshopped picture of Lincoln with a Gatling Gun instead of a right hand; Clever. The dramatic post-80s metal solo; Cheesy. Yet, somehow, when put together in this context, with no reason, purpose, or significant effort, the sum is much, much greater than the parts.
And, if you don’t see the humor in it, I’m sure you’re not alone.

So, the other night, we were watching Season 3 of Arrested Development, and I have come to the conclusion that the finale of episode 5 is quite possibly the funniest thing ever put onto film.
The tears were flowing.
