Musical Addiction

I have an addictive personality; at least when it comes to music. I very commonly hear a song that I really connect with for one reason or another, and I subsequently listen to it over and over again. Sometimes I’ll just go back and listen to it several times over the course of the day for a few weeks. While other times – the most extreme cases such as On & Off Again – I will literally have the song on repeat for the entire work day, listen to it on the commute, and have it playing while I’m at home; I listen to it over 50 times in one day.

It’s not always that the first time I hear a song that it hooks me, though it often is. It isn’t uncommon that I’ve heard a song several times before, but one particular listen really grabs me. In the case of The Crane Wife by the Decemberists, I heard the song a couple of times and that was it. Months later, it randomly popped into my head, I listened again and it ended up being one of the worst cases of MA yet.

As they are becoming more frequent and usually tend to be pretty unique songs, I figured I’d chronicle and share these magical experiences with the world.

You’re welcome.
